Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the world is looking to become the biggest game changer since the invention of the internet.

According to a study done at Oxford University, 45% of all current jobs will disappear in the next 10 years with some of them being completely automated or at least upgraded to a point where a fraction of the workforce is needed. Those jobs include truck drivers, many farming jobs, media publishing jobs (like magazines, newspapers, etc), cashiers and more.  Another report by Zippia suggests that automation has the potential to eliminate 73 million US jobs by 2030, which would equate to a staggering 46% of the current jobs. The report also states that automation is predicted to displace 20 million manufacturing jobs by 2030. It is also estimated that a billion people could lose their jobs over the next ten years due to AI, and 375 million jobs are at risk of obsolescence from AI automation 3.

It is important to note that while AI will likely displace many jobs (and even entire industries), it will also create new ones. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, 133 million new jobs will be created by 2022 as a result of AI and other technological advances. That’s why 37% of Americans are worried about AI displacing them from their jobs. So if there’s a clear warning that big changes are coming our way.

You’re Already Using AI

It should be noted that Google’s search engine already incorporates AI algorithms as does Google Maps which assists with features like real-time traffic predictions and route optimization. If you use Gmail, Google employs AI in Gmail to enhance email management with features such as “smart reply.” Everyone who uses Amazon has experienced the power of  AI. AI makes shopping at Amazon perhaps the best shopping experience on the planet. Amazon extensively utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) across its various products and services.

Here are some notable ways Amazon employs AI:

  • Product Recommendations: Amazon’s recommendation engine uses AI algorithms to analyze customer behavior, purchase history, and browsing patterns to suggest personalized product recommendations. These recommendations help customers discover relevant products and enhance their shopping experience.
  • Alexa and Echo Devices: Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, powers their Echo line of smart speakers and other devices. Alexa relies on AI and natural language understanding to respond to voice commands, provide information, control smart home devices, play music, and more.
  • Amazon Prime Video: AI is used in Amazon Prime Video for content recommendation and personalization. By analyzing viewing habits and user preferences, AI algorithms suggest relevant TV shows and movies to enhance the streaming experience.
  • Amazon Go Stores: Amazon’s cashier-less stores, known as Amazon Go, leverage AI technologies such as computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning to enable a checkout-free shopping experience. AI algorithms track items as customers pick them up, allowing for seamless payment.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): AWS offers various AI and machine learning services to developers and businesses. These services include Amazon Rekognition (image and video analysis), Amazon Comprehend (natural language processing), and Amazon SageMaker (machine learning platform).
  • Fraud Detection: AI algorithms are employed by Amazon to detect and prevent fraudulent activities across its e-commerce platform. These algorithms analyze vast amounts of data, such as customer behavior, transactions, and patterns, to identify potential fraudulent behavior.
  • Warehouse Optimization: Amazon’s fulfillment centers utilize AI for inventory management, demand forecasting, and logistics optimization. AI algorithms help streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Robotics: Amazon has acquired robotics companies like Kiva Systems (now Amazon Robotics) and employs AI in its fulfillment centers to automate tasks such as product sorting, packing, and inventory management.

Locally in Colorado, where we live, work and build websitesAI is already part of our daily work flow.
For example: We use AI to help write code for websites. Photoshop (which we use every day) uses AI to accelerate the process of working with images which get integrated into our websites. We also use SEO software which helps us understand and interpret website data which in turn helps us deliver higher search engine rankings for our client’s websites.

How Will AI Affect Websites?

Certainly AI will affect websites but according to the experts AI is unlikely to replace websites. A report by NeoITO, said that AI is more likely to be used to optimize websites for better visibility and to help businesses improve their website’s content. Its predicted that users searching the web will more frequently use AI  for to help them search the web and to gather information. Website technology has always been a changing field but your website and it’s online presence is predicted to a valuable and important component for most businesses in Colorado and nationwide. When your business is technology – changing technology is always something to keep an eye on. When Google came out with a free DIY website platform we heard people saying it was the beginning of the end for web developers. That proved to be false. Then it seemed like every domain registrar (like Godaddy) came out with a DIY website builder. While those DIY solutions offered a cheap solution for low cost websites they were (and still are) not to be taken seriously for companies that need a high-end, professional design and website that can successfully compete online. AI will likely drive innovation that will change the business of web development but initially it looks like one of the most dramatic influence AI will have on websites is in the world of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

How about Media for Websites?

AI is already offering professional sounding text-to-voice solutions. There are several AI text-to-voice solutions available.

Here are some of the most popular ones:

Amazon Transcribe: Amazon Transcribe is an automatic speech recognition (ASR) service that makes it easy for developers to add speech-to-text capability to their applications.
Speechify: Speechify is a text-to-speech AI program that can convert text from any format into easily understandable and effective AI voices.
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech: Google Cloud Text-to-Speech is an API powered by Google’s machine learning technology that can turn text into natural-sounding speech in 220+ voices across 40+ languages and variants.
Microsoft Azure Text-to-Speech: Microsoft Azure Text-to-Speech is a customizable, realistic voice generator that can access voices with different speaking styles and emotional tones to fit your use case.

AI Text-to-Image solutions available.
AI image generators are creating a lot of buzz this year. There are dozens of websites where you can generate images by inputting text prompts. In fact some of the images on this page were  at least partially generated via AI. There are currently AI solutions that will generate almost any image imaginable for use in your website or marketing campaign. This will likely impact artists and photographers since some percentage of website imagery will be artificially generated instead of human-created.

AI can assist in creating unique and high-quality content that grabs attention and distinguishes itself from the crowd. This means blog posts should be getting better in the near future.
  2. Enhanced Content Strategy: AI, coupled with machine learning, aids search engines in incorporating visual content, such as images and videos, into their algorithms. This allows for a more comprehensive and diverse content strategy.
  3. Increased Productivity: AI can automate repetitive SEO tasks like keyword research, link building, and reporting. By offloading these tasks to AI-powered tools, SEO professionals can save time and focus on more strategic initiatives.
  4. Streamlined Reporting and Analysis: Analyzing large volumes of data can be a daunting task. AI excels in swiftly and accurately analyzing extensive data sets, providing valuable insights that help improve SEO strategies. It simplifies reporting and aids in making data-driven decisions.
